Since the Panmunjom Declaration (2018) between North and South Korea, the peace process on the Korean Peninsula has not progressed well. It is not irrelevant for Japan as the situation in Northeast Asia will change depending on how this turns out.
South Korea's National Security Act represses words and actions that are favorable to North Korea, and if anti-American activities are deemed to be pro-North Korea, they will be repressed and have an attrition effect on the people. North and South Korea
This is one of the root causes of the division between North and South Korea, which has become fixed and hostile.
Since the democratization of South Korea in the 1980s, innovative forces in South Korea have tried several times to abolish the National Security Act, but they have not been able to do so, partly because the public consciousness has been accustomed to the idea of anti-North Korea for many years.
Currently, President Moon Jae-in's ruling Democratic Party of Korea holds a majority in the National Assembly, and it is necessary to seize this opportunity to abolish the law. In South Korea, a movement is currently underway to submit 100,000 signatures to the National Assembly, and we hope to collect these international signatures in time for the Korean National Assembly starting in September, 2021.
